Biofriction resident Vanessa Lorenzo presents, together with artist Carola Moujan, in the framework of Paratext, Hangar’s monthly event.
Paratext is a monthly program of performances by artists in residence at Hangar, as well as artists on exchange grants. They present, in different formats, specific projects or parts of their work. The sessions are always open to the public in order to allow interaction with the artists themselves. Each Paratext also has an editor who will later publish their impressions of the presentation on this blog. On this occasion, Marzia Matarese will be the editor.

Vanessa Lorenzo is a researcher and trans-disciplinary designer based in Switzerland. Trained as product design engineer and media designer, she focuses on objects that address intimate interdependencies between humans and the ecologies we are embedded in. Influenced by ethno-fiction, feminist theory and speculative design methodology, she creates scenarios embedding people, the more-than-human and the technologies that interweave them in order to enable odd sympathies and post-anthropocentric futures.
Carola Moujan is an artist, designer, researcher and teacher. Trained in architecture and fine arts in Uruguay and the United States, specialized in media arts and design in France, her transdisciplinary practice crosses the fields of graphic and interaction design, installation, still and animated image, artist’s book, urban furniture and scenography.
PhD in design from the Université Paris 1 (Sorbonne), her practice-based research work explores the concept of entr’espace, an emergent quality that arises from the interweaving of complex interactive processes between spaces, temporalities, sensitive bodies, affects, materials, and digital code in post-digital, rather than human, contexts. Her current lines of research are developed around three axes: urban developments, non-verbal mechanisms of interaction and the methodology of artistic research.
